Resetting your password or recovering your username
Get back into your account safely, and understand the new-IP security code.
Locked out? Here is the fastest safe route back in.
Reset your password
Go to /login and click Forgot password.
Enter the email address on your account and submit.
Check that inbox. The reset link is valid for a limited time; if it expires, request a new one.
Choose a new password and sign in.
The Forgot password flow emails a one-time link. For your protection we do not tell you whether an email address exists on our system — so if you click submit and no email arrives, check your spam folder and confirm you used the address you signed up with.
Recover your username
Use Forgot username on the sign-in page. We email your username to the address on file. If the address on file is one you no longer have access to, open a support ticket — you will need to verify ownership another way.
"It emailed me a code" — what is this?
When you sign in from a new IP address or a new device, we send a 6-digit code as a second factor. Enter it on the prompt. This is deliberate: a stolen password alone is not enough to get in. If you did not try to sign in, someone else has your password — change it immediately and enable two-factor authentication (see Securing your account).
If you are already signed in
Change your password from Account → Security. Changing your password signs out other active sessions.
Password advice that actually helps
Use a passphrase: four or five random words. Long beats complicated.
Never reuse the password from another site. Credential-stuffing attacks try passwords leaked elsewhere.
Store it in a password manager. Self-host Vaultwarden on a VPS if you want full control — see our Vaultwarden guide.
